Schizophrenia is a serious, chronic mental disorder that affects the way a person thinks, acts, expresses feelings, perceives reality, and relates to others. Although schizophrenia is not as common as other serious mental illnesses, it can be the most chronic and debilitating.
People with schizophrenia often have trouble feeling comfortable in society, at work, at school, and in their relationships. You may feel scared and withdrawn and seem out of touch with reality. There is no lifelong cure for this disease, but it can be controlled with proper treatment.
